material details

Mixed with alloy metals such as silver, nickel and zinc to strengthen its durability. First used in 400BC for decoration and later by the Egyptians for trade in 1500BC. Able to be stretched and shaped easily - ideal for the jewellery trade. Historically the most popular as it is the most hypo-allergenic, requires the least maintenance of all the gold colours, and is highly resistant to chemical changes, so does not tarnish easily.

Yellow Gold: It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

White Gold: It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

Rose Gold: It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

Choosing your ring material

Yellow Gold: Mixed with alloy metals such as silver, nickel and zinc to strengthen its durability.

White Gold: An alloy made from gold and at least one of the following: silver, nickel, palladium or manganese. The level of 'whiteness' of the gold depends on the mix. Was initially produced at the turn of the 20th century as a cheaper alternative to platinum. However, recently 18ct white gold has become more valuable than platinum, due to the price increase of palladium, a main component used in the production of 18ct white gold.

Rose Gold: Copper is the predominate metallic element in the alloy. The colour intensity is dependent on the percentage of copper present and toned down to its subtle pink colour using silver. Has an exquisite vintage look and was first popularised by the Russians in the 1800's and later became fashionable in the Victorian era and then the roaring twenties, art deco style. A timeless classic! The versatility of your collection increases when you add a piece of jewellery made from this highly desirable gold.
